Mikasa Sports
Mikasa Sports was looking for a way to commemorate their athlete Phil Dalhausser winning the gold medal in beach volleyball at the Olympics with a special edition product.
Process
Inspired by the final point of the match that won gold, I took Phil’s victorious expression and created custom illustrations and branding to use for the special edition volleyball, packaging and advertising.
Solution
The unique ball design and packaging both stood out on the shelves as well as made a unique commemorative piece for volleyball fans. A studio photoshoot with Phil followed to create advertising that celebrated his accomplishment and promoted Mikasa as the official ball of the Olympic Games.
The advertising took a tongue and cheek approach to the idea of being able to defeat the gold medalist on the court.
